Advocacy
Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition, Connecticut (PPCC-CT)
KFF funded the establishment of this first-ever Connecticut coalition, working with the National Pediatric Palliative
& Hospice Coalition based in Pittsburgh. Its mission is to ensure that every child in Connecticut with a serious illness
has access to quality, compassionate pediatric palliative care.

The PPCC-CT aims to:
-
Support the healthcare workforce through foundational
and continuing education (webinars, in-person training,
and mentorship). -
Foster the development of communication skills in
difficult conversations related to serious illness, palliative
care, goals of care and end-of-life. -
Pursue expanded funding sources and improved
reimbursement for palliative care. -
Increase general awareness of pediatric palliative
care, its benefits and outcomes for children to
healthcare providers and the public. -
Actively participate in advocacy opportunities.
Courageous Parents Network (CPN)
KFF subsidized the development of the Parent Champion Program, which will amplify the voice of parents as advocates of pediatric palliative care, share their family experience and provide representation for CPN worldwide.
Through this program, CPN will expand awareness for pediatric palliative care among healthcare providers and patient organizations, and bring palliative-informed, family perspectives to more families, clinicians and patient organizations nationwide. The Parent Champions share CPN’s mission to empower and orient parents and others caring for children with serious illness and medical conditions.
